Internship Description:
We’re looking for an unpaid Program Associate Intern to join our nonprofit organization for a semester. The ideal candidate is creative, empathic and self-driven with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The person is adaptable and interested in working and learning in a nonprofit startup with a focus in the arts, mind-body practices and mental health resilience. The candidate is emotionally intelligent and capable of engaging compassionately and professionally with diverse individuals and groups.
The intern is mentored and managed by the Executive Director, a social entrepreneur, activist and expressive arts therapist with 3 decades of experience in nonprofit leadership and social impact. This position requires a commitment of a minimum of 20 hours/week (in-person + online). Our office/studio hive is located at Folkmoot: 112 Virginia Rd., Waynesville, NC 28786.
Responsibilities:
Support in the development and implementation of the organization’s programs, workshops and events
Assist with event planning, implementation and evaluation processes
Organize and co-facilitate the classes and events offered to the community
Document the organization’s programs and events in writing and through photos, videos and client stories/testimonials
Engage and communicate with clients, volunteers and stakeholders, online and offline
Support the Executive Director (ED) in research projects, writing for the newsletter and managing social media platforms
Update our website on Squarespace; create marketing materials
Assist the ED in any administrative tasks as needed
Requirements:
Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a relevant field (arts, psychology, mental health, social work, business administration)
Passion for the organization’s mission
Own a laptop and willing to bring it to work
Excellent verbal and written research and communication skills
Social media, email communication and basic marketing skills
Organizational and time management skills
