Join us during May 2025, Mental Health Awareness Month, for 31 days of wellness for a healthier and happier you. Each day, we invite you to do something for your mental wellness and well-being. We’re offering a sample of a variety of holistic wellness practices at our Healing Hive at Folkmoot. A full schedule of offerings is below.
The invitation is to do something every day for your mental wellness and well-being, like taking a walk, gardening, making a nourishing meal, exercising, and so on.
Take a photo or a short video and post it on our private Facebook group. To participate, join our Facebook page. We will cheer you on, and you’ll be inspired by the collective energy of our community. Together we support each other to form better habits for healthier and happier lives of meaning and purpose.

HeART Healing Circle Workshops with Marga Fripp, trauma-informed Expressive Art Therapist & certified Qigong Teacher
The creative process empowers people to release stress, process trauma, loss, and grief, uncover wisdom and gratitude, rekindle joy, and find new meaning, hope, and healing. The sessions include art-making, poetry reading, writing, insightful reflection, compassionate connection, and wisdom sharing. No art skills are needed to attend.
Fee: $25-35/workshop, free for people in need. Tea Reception, Light Snacks, & Aromatherapy. If you’re unable to pay, contact Marga for a scholarship.

Labyrinth Walk & Chalk Art
On Sat., May 3, join us in celebrating World Labyrinth Day as we kick off Mental Health Awareness Month with insightful reflections and a meditative walk. Afer the walk, express your creativity and intentions by decorating the stone walkway outside the Labyrinth with chalk art.
Free of charge. All ages are welcome. Walking meditation is a powerful practice that can reduce stress, ease anxiety and depression, and support overall well-being. Come center yourself, connect with others, and start the month with mindfulness and creativity.

Nature Walk at Lake Junaluska
Join us for a community walk around pristine water and healing nature at Lake Junaluska. The walk is a beautiful opportunity to boost your health, happiness, connect with neighbors, and make new friends. Invite a friend or bring your dog for a happy walk. If there is a 51% chance of rain or the temperatures are below 41 degrees, the walk will be canceled. Free of charge.

Mindful Movement Qigong with Marga Fripp, trauma-informed certified Qigong Teacher
Qigong is a moving meditation and energy self-healing practice known to transform stress into vitality. The practice is an effective mental health complementary therapy that reduces anxiety, depression and stress, and improves mood and self-esteem. Qigong also strengthens the immune and cardiovascular system, cultivates balance, bone, and joint health, and reduces blood pressure and stiffness in muscles and joints.

Speaking meditations and breathing prompts for the outcome of feeling centered and in the moment.
